Michael has graduated from 3 different music schools, with a B.A Music degree from Carleton University, followed by a diploma in Jazz Guitar from Humber College, and then a diploma in Recording Music Production from Trebas Institute.

What sets Michael apart is his versatility and ability to perform and teach many instruments and styles. He is equally at ease picking classical and jazz finger-style pieces, or playing genres of music as diverse as rock, metal, jazz, fusion, blues, country, and pop.

Michael believes in a comprehensive music education, and his lessons include technical work, ear training, rhythmic training, music theory, recital preparation, music festivals, and possible RCM practical exams as well. He tailors lessons according to the student’s individual goals, and believes that young children can develop technical and musical skills by playing fun and simple games that have a designed purpose to them.

Besides teaching, he is also an active musician with over 30 years of experience, performing in and outside of Toronto as a solo artist and a freelancer for other bands, while also working on multiple projects in his recording studio.
